reflective excercise

I touched on this subject in my last blog.

The whole experience has been fun and frustrating at the same time. I do not want to stop learning new things. Technology is moving so fast and furious that what I am learning now will be changed in some way in the near future. So how do I keep up with the changes? I have to be realistic that I can not.

We were fortunate in our advocates at our branch. Valerie and Toni did a wonderful job in helping us stumble through the exercises. They kept me going even though there were times that I wanted to quit.

There were a lot of surprises. I had no clue as all that is out there in cyberspace.

I had a hard time finding the time to do justice to the program.

I have no regrets in participating in the program. In fact I will be going back to redo some of the exercises. I would definitely do it again.

I hope that the program goes on.

podcasts

it was fun to explore the podcasts. I checked out several. I enjoyed the npr site. I also checked out the ones regarding the library. I am not sure how to get the rss feed to this blog. I'll ask someone for help and keep working on it. I've noticed that sometimes the instructions are not clear. The last couple of excercises have been especially tough for me.

I'm surprised that I made it this far.

This week we covered online software, google lab and other stuff. I had no idea that the online software was out there. Not only out there but easy to use. I had fun playing with the google trends. I checked out several trends. Science Fiction, hiking, and coffee puts seattle area in the top 3 cities

I am really happy that I made it this far. When we are finished with this process, I want to revisit some of the 27 things.

20 minutes per week is not near enough to do justice to the excersises.

2.0 blog

I read the five articles. I think that technologically, things are moving too fast. When I think about how people's carreers are derailed because of a phone upload to U-TUBE, bogs the mind.

I like to recieve my news from reading the printed newspaper. It is not the same experience as reading a computer screen.

That is it for now.

creating search engine

For once this excercise was pretty easy. I set up a search engine about organic gardening sites in google. It is called "The real Gardener Search engine"

week 8

Had fun playing with the southpark character. Could not save the image. - believe me it was cute. It is taking far too long for each lesson.

Wikki Excercise

A Wikki would help us to keep track of which groups are using the rooms, what special events are happening and where staff are scheduled for the day. We already have these lists, but posted in different locations.
Favorite activity for this week's 27 things is the "library thing activity". Technorati was interesting. I can not believe how many blogs for American Idol there are.

today I subscribed to several of the rss feeds. I am especially interested in the gardening. There were 10 articles posted. This has been a fun excercise.

Confused

Somehow I've managed to create two blogs. I was able to delete one of the blogs. Hopefully I am on track.
